Too old to learn?

For thousands of years it has been believed that the young learn from the old. But has the situation finally reversed? Do the old now have to learn from the young? Such a thought is an uncomfortable one but which needs a to be seriously considered, in the light of the present system where knowledge is expanding so fast that it is said that the total volume of knowledge in the world doubles every ten years. If this is true than a man who is 60 years old and whose grandson is 15, will have had 50 percent less to learn at 50 than his grandson would have at 15. In this case, unless Grandpa is a man who is constantly educating himself, there would be a lot he could learn from his grandson. However, one thing that is said that cannot be learnt without an elder is experience. The old would have ‘been there, done that and bought the T-shirt’ while most of the young have to teach may be theoretical or with little experience to back them up. Even in ancient texts like Plato’s dialogues, it comes about that the young learn from the old as much as the old learn from the young. When looking at a problem, the old can see it from their experience and perhaps only from that perspective. This may or may not be useful to the situation of the problem. The young looking at the same problem may be able to see the problem from a fresh insight, without the baggage of stumbling experience; which may actually act an obstacle to the problem. Then again, they would be lacking in experience, which may be crucial in solving the problem. Hence we see that in certain situations, neither the old nor the young have the advantage. As a conclusion, what may work is a combination of experience from the old and creativity from the young.

Witches and Wizards

Witches and wizards are people who are known to possess magical powers or supernatural forces. They are usually found in myths, legends and folktales as a bad and evil people. But are they really partially demonic like we all assume, or do they really exist?

The word wizard literally means "wise man". It is said that they do really exist. The first existance of witch-craft was found in a forest in Stoneage Bratain. The only way for them to stay alive was by hunting to prey. Of course they wizards and witches do not hunt using weapons like ather ordinary hunters. The weapon they use is called the "wand".

The Wand a staff or a stick, believed to have magical powers, and the ability to produce and effect by tapping or waving it. The wand itself holds no magic. To ensure that the magic can be aimed correctly at the desired target, just point the wand to the target's direction. The power of the Witch/Wizard, is concentrated into the wand.

Long ago, wizards and witches have been burned alive in the town square of the village. People who were believed to do witch craft work were usually kidnapped in the middle of the nigt and burned alive as a punishment. This includes people in all ages, both women; men and also children.

But talking about wizards, and witches. The image of those creatures are not like how they used to be. Especially after the birth of the story "Harry Potter". Children are no longer scared of them, instead they have become a Hero they look up to.

Everybody in this world wants to be beautiful and charming, including both you and i. With advanced technology that we have today, the popularity of plastic surgeries have aroused in a tremendous rate. Long ago, only the rich and famous who can afford such practices. But now almost everybody can do it as there are more and more plastic surgeons available and there are lots of beauty company which promotes plastic surgeries in a low and reasonable price.

There are two different types of plastic surgeries and they are Re-construction Plactic Surgery and Cosmetic Surgery. Re-construction Plastic Surgery is usually performed when somebody has a burnt patch or a birth-mark. while Cosmetic Surgery would be to beautify oneself.

Definately Cosmetic Surgery is more popular than the other one. Some are even addictd to it, and in the end the turn out to look really artificial. The most common Cosmetic Surgeries are Blepharoplasty (eye-lid), Laser Skin Resurfacimg, Chemical peel, Breast Augmentation (breast implant), Breast reduction, Mastopexy (breast lifting), Rhinopasty (nose job), Buttock Augmentation (butt implant), Cheek Augmentation and etc.

The worst thing about plastic surgeries is that, they may not always be succesful. At times if the surgeon is not careful, they may put your life in danger or make you look like a monster. That is why my advise to people who want to do plastic surgeries, you better find qualified surgeons to do them. Dont ever be tempted to do cheap surgeries as they are not really reliable and there is a great appotunity that you'll regret your whole life.

Fetus? Pro-life or Pro-choice

With the increasing number of sex before marriage recently, the issue of abortion appears in the society and it is becoming a more controversial topic more than ever. It is not easy to decide, are you pro-life or pro-choice, but what happen most of the time is, once you are pregnant before marriage, the tendency for you to become pro-choice increase. Moreover, ones decision to be pro-life or pro-choice has great correlation with their cultural, religion, and family background.
In Indonesia, abortion is illegal especially with the kind of culture adopted in the society which prioritize religion, and most religions are pro-life because even it is only a fetus, it is one of God’s creation or some people refers it as God’s gift. What happen when pregnancies happen because of rape or the baby will be born unhealthy? Abortion is one of the solution for those kind of problems, but still, legalize abortion in Indonesia probably will never happen whatsoever.
Side effect of abortion not only mentally, but also physically such as first, severe bleeding particularly when the abortion process fails, second, bladder and bowel injury, and also statistic finds that abortionist have higher rate of breast cancer.
Hence, to prevent sex before marriage, which might leads to abortion, young couples should obtain education about safe sex. Using contraception and birth control pills will also help, nonetheless, it is still highly recommended for young people to wait to have sex with their partner until they are married.

Finally, with the increasing number of young women who adopted this kind of diet, I think it is time for everyone to start concerning about adopting healthy diet. To lose weight, a balance diet with nutritionist and regular exercise are still the best and highly recommended way. Piano is one of the widely known musical instruments. In fact, most of the music schools have piano lessons as the fundamental course to introduce music to their students. Despite of the piano’s worldly nature, many people are still unable to understand the true nature of this magnificent instrument. Moreover, they dwell on the old-fashioned paradigm that piano is only associated with tenderness, tranquility, elegance, and classical. This paradigm is supported by the existence of ‘elegant’ pianists, such as Richard Clayderman and Maxim Mrvica.
First of all, Richard Clayderman’s playing style represents the tenderness and tranquility of the piano. He often uses the flowing legato and ligature phrases combined with sustain pedal to create the soothing atmosphere. In addition, he utilizes simple pop chords to strengthen the simplistic style. Secondly, Maxim Mrvica’s playing style represents the elegance and classical side of the piano. A prime example is the famous repertoire ‘Flight of The Bumblebee’.

Mutual Interaction between Human and Pets

Since some millennia ago, man had kept certain animals as pets because it is beneficial for them. Firstly, pets are believed to have a therapeutic effect to man. In fact, some animals such as dolphins, dogs, and horses are used for therapeutic treatment for children who suffer from psychological disorder. In addition, animals which are kept as domestic pets like cats, dogs, fish, and birds are able to bring out the good qualities in people. Also, a test by a group of scientists in England to a number of primary school children who have pets and do not have pets have showed that the children who have pets have a stronger immune system. However, in time, we are more beneficial to pets. In fact, animals which are specially bred by humans such as poodles and other cross breeding dogs, cats, and birds will need special food and care for them to survive. For this reason, these animals would not be able to survive in the wild and they will need continued human care. In conclusion, we need pets as for our own benefits which we can hardly get from anywhere else and in return, pets also need us for their survival.

Our country Indonesia have a lot of problem that all it citizen realize. They are corruption, nepotism and collusion, the power of Islamic organization in the country, and the firmness of Indonesian’s government.

Firstly, Corruption is taking money illegally from some one in order to increase the wealth of self or certain some one, nepotism is giving an advantage to a special someone and collusion is an act to work with an organization in secret to manipulate something. Corruption, nepotism and collusion from the definition we know it is a bad thing to do. Corruption, nepotism and collusion are the most common problem in the Indonesia, even know it is the most common it also the hardest one to erase, why? Because it already become some kind of a culture in Indonesia. To solve this there are no there is no other way to handle it but by giving heavy punishment like the one that the Chinese government apply, but in Indonesia this punishment can not be implement fully, why you ask? Because even the court is also full of Corruption, nepotism and collusion.

Secondly, en know Indonesia is not an Islamic country like Malaysia but the power of Islamic organization in this country is offer whelming that even the polices can not contain them if they do something anarchy, even sometime those that do some thing anarchy can escape with out being arrested, for example when the FPI attack the playboy main office only several arrested not all, or when they try to help escape a fugitive the polices can not contain them and they did not try to arrested any of them and even the government can not make any decision that contradiction to the Islamic law as an example when they want to create a casino on the thousand islands they cancel it because there is strike against it, even the Malaysia the Islamic country have a casino on Genting Highland (the condition in Genting Highland is similar to thousand islands, both of them can not be use for planting.).

And last but least the firmness of Indonesian’s government, Indonesia is a very naughty country just like the Israel when they escape from the Egypt, so the one who rule them must be a firm and discipline government. There must not be any lose control not even a rice, just like when Soeharto take control of Indonesia. All that needed is his firmness but not his sadistic ness, like when the Malaysian government take batik as their nationality items, or even when the government find out that there are a lot of miss treat Indonesia citizen in Malaysia, or even when they take Indonesia lumber, islands and sand by disguising them as granite. The government should cut any accesses to those countries that have defiled the dignity of Indonesian.

In conclusion our country Indonesia problems are corruption, nepotism and collusion, the power of Islamic organization in the country, and the firmness of Indonesian’s government.

Have you ever see a black skin man that wearing a clotting like a rap musician. At the first sight you will think him as a gangster. You don’t even ask or talk to him you just think like that right. This phenomenon happens to all the people in the world as specially the Chinese people. The Chinese people have many way to decide a good people or not from their height, their aye, their nose, or even the location of a mole, for example most Chinese believe that a tall man are more honest than the one that short, and people with wide eye are more honest than people with line eye. There are other believe like that in the world that believe by certain race. This phenomenon can help us to become more wary but some this phenomenon not only interfere with the relation between human being, but also make those who have those characteristics become an out cast. In conclusion this phenomenon happens a lot around us, and affected our life.

The Five Elements

In traditional Chinese philosophy, it is believed that there are fundamental substances that form the world and govern the cycle of life. These substances are called elements. There are five main elements; wood, fire, earth, metal, and water. Similarly, they are known as the ‘Five Phases’ or ‘Five Cardinal Points’. Elements perform two Cycle of Balance in order to stabilize the environment and create harmony altogether.
Firstly, the Generating Cycle. The aim of this cycle is to rejuvenate the old, weary environment and stimulate the flow of Chi, a spiritual energy said to regulate the cycle of life. For instance, wood ‘feeds’ fire, fire creates earth (ashes), earth contains metal, metal collects water, and water nourishes wood. In short, the Generating Cycle is perpetual and infinite, as long as there is life in this world.
Secondly, the Overcoming Cycle. The purpose of this cycle is to control the existence of one element, so that it will not overflow (natural disasters such as typhoons, tsunami, and earthquake are said to be the results of the imbalance). For example, wood parts earth, earth absorbs water, water quenches fire, fire melts metal, and metal chops wood.
Lastly, elements are also believed to determine the temperament of a human born on a specific period. Firstly, children born on the year ended by 4 or 5 (for example 1995) are born with the characteristics of wood. They are scatter-brained, wide range of hobbies, flexible, sociable, and somewhat fragile. Secondly, children born on the year ended by 6 or 7 are born with fiery temperaments; hot-blooded, great leadership capabilities, brave, impatient, and extrovert. Thirdly, children born on the year ended with 8 or 9 inherit the traits of our Mother Earth; stubborn, determined, slow-but-sure, introvert, and materialistic. Fourthly, children born on the year ended with 0 or 1 are the metal descendant. They are rigid, authoritarian, ruler, idealistic, and desperately seek for more power. Lastly, children born on the year ended by 2 or 3 are the water bearers. They are peaceful, sensitive, imaginative, artistic, and creative.
Therefore, it can be concluded that the philosophy of elements is an interesting approach to reveal the mysteries of life. Whether it is truly exist or not is up to personal belief and there is little importance in arguing about that. The more essential issue is to maintain and develop the unique inheritance of a culture, so that it will not demise over centuries.

Sarabande by Debussy

Sarabande by Debussy have many interesting musical elements. Sarabande itself is an American Latin dance with triple time that was adopted by Spanish in 16th century. Characteristic of a Sarabande is always leaning on the second beat of bar. Sarabande by Debussy is played in E Major or C sharp minor with four sharps. The opening motif is in the 1-2 bar, harmonized by added 7th chords with a parallel movement. The second motif is in bar five with rising fourth and falling third. The third motive started in the bar 9, with a chord progression of A major, F sharp major, and D sharp minor seventh. In bar 11 there is an imitation of the third motif accompanied by a parallel dominant seventh chord starting on F sharp. Bar 15-18 repeat bars 1-4, the piece closed with a modified second motive with a lower octave.
The scales that are used by Debussy is varied, either for harmonic or melodic, whole tone, and pentatonic. The tonality cannot be said as major or minor, because even it is E Major or C sharp minor, but some reaches more than the home key. Impressionism also has an irregular melody line, this piece also sound that it use lots of dissonance. The chords that are use also varied and used added chords. The rhythm is also not very constant; perhaps it is one of the ideas of impressionism idea.
In conclusion, the piano piece by Debussy is really a good example of an impressionism, because the elements of music used and he himself is one of the most important composer during that era.

Cats

Cats, recently many people keep cats as pets. This animal actually related to dangerous wildcats like tigers, lions, and cheetahs, leopards, and jaguars. The cats that many people keep as pets are called domestic cats. This type of cats actually not dangerous and very friendly if we treat them well. But, some domestic cats brings diseases that very dangerous for human especially for women. They can infected virus like toxoplasm, and for women cats infected virus that make them can't reproduced domestic cats came about when wildcats were tamed through living closely with people for many years. Through this process of interaction, these cats became less ferocious and dangerous to people. Both domestic and wild cats are carnivorous, this means that their food consist mostly of meat. Wildcats usually hunt to grab their prey while domestic cats get their food from their master.

Water

Water is very important in our daily life. 70% of our body is made up of water. No one can live for more than 2 or 3 days without water. We need clean water every day. We gets water from underground and from mountain springs. But lately people don't give much attention to keep water source clean. They contaminated the water. What would happen if the water contaminated? Drinking water and eating seafood from contaminated water can make us ill. We may even get diseases such as hepatitis, cholera, or dysentry. We need to keep our water supply clean. We can take some step to remain the water supply clean. First step by getting rid of our rubbish properly. Always place rubbish inside plastic bag before we throw it into rubbish bin with a cover that fits well. If rubbish is thrown into drains, canals, or rivers, it will contaminated the water. Oil spill on the sea may cause the water contaminated. The government must take some action to prevent this. But not only government, everyone must play a role in caring for environment. In conclusion we must kept our water clean and safe.

Motorcycle’s Benefit and Disadvantage

Motorcycle is the new popular ride in Indonesia it proofed by the increased of number in Jakarta, we can also see by the amount of people that go back to there home town with their motorcycle. Motorcycle have a two benefits firstly thanks to it slim shape and capability to move in tight spaces it can go to almost any where in Jakarta with out getting into a traffic, it can go on the pedestrian path, and it can move through small spaces between vehicles. Secondly thanks to it fragile formed the government took extra care to them, for example when there is a one way in Puncak they are the only vehicle that allowed to pass even know they not suppose to be, and in the mudik time they were escorted to their destination by the cop. But as all people know there is no unbreakable tusk, so motorcycle has a lot of disadvantage also. First of all they are fragile they are fragile not because the component or part but because their can easily fall down if a car bump into it, even thought that some people use this as an opportunities to get some quick cash by black mailing the one that hit them, if it only a minor one, so be careful for both. Second motorcycles in Indonesia especially are exposed to the weather and pollution, for short during the rain you’ll get wet, and for those who do not have a cover on their mouth and even for those who do have a cover on their mouth will exhale the pollution on the air. Music had become one of the most influential things that occur in this world. It had affects people’s lifestyles, ambition, and even religion. However, not all kinds of music had brought a good effect to our lives. Certain types of music had a secret or an open message that contains different issues. Today, many bands or artists deliver strong influence. The message such as sex, drug abuse, murder, Satan, and so on, gave a very bad influence. A few months ago, an infamous latin-american band named Wumps’cut released a controversial album entitled Jesus AntiChristuz. Oh God, what an honest band they were. In addition, these kind of influence were not occurs in just one type of music that is rock, but it was already known that certain pop singers, even the famous one, had made a blood and sex party, or even sacrifice a newborn child, before their concerts or an upcoming album. The example, although it was not been 100% sure, was Elvis Presley and The Beatles. So in conclusion, be aware of this kind of music. Just live a normal life and love the music that had gave a good affects to our life.

Actually, critics for China’s products emerged when American Mattel toy factory has already pulled their China’s products from markets over the world. Their factory in China is considered used some chemist substain containing overdose black lead. It’s really harmful for our health. In New Zealand, the government tried to test the products importing from China. They found that T-shirt, pants, pajamas, contains any overdose substain which can cause cancer. A factory in Dutch sent back their China’s beds because they contain poison for insects. In Indonesia, people found that some kinds of candy come form China contain formalin and toothpaste (Maxam and Sensodyne) containing dietylene glycol. Last few years, many products coming from China were pulled from markets because their qualities hesitated. 80% children’s toys and textil selling over the world are made in China. Markets prefer produce their products in China because China can make good-looking products and offers low price. China can also duplicate every branded products same as the original but with extra lower price. In conclusion, China’s government must improve their product quality and make quality standars for their products based on the price demand.

Kampoeng in Indonesia

Kampoeng is one of the most important assets in Indonesia. It has so many beautiful and amazing natural wealth. We should proud and take care of it. It is also another way to attract the tourists to visit Indonesia. If we see further, the villages in Java land are always surrounded by spectacular natural wealth. There are thousands even millions of villages out there. By paying more attention on expanding the village, the beauty of Indonesia can be more recognized by other countries. Village, which is known as kampoeng in Java, has its own history, value and culture. Every village in Indonesia is mostly placed near mountain, forest or beach. The name of a village usually came after a certain popular story around the area. The popular story that is known as Cerita rakyat will represent the history of the village. Each village has their own value. They insist on using the traditional way to cook rice, build house and so on to maintain their value. Beside the history and the value, Villages in Indonesia also have their own culture. They will keep their culture by coordinating special event annually and telling the youth about their marriage culture, new baby born culture and other cultures. An example of village in Indonesia is Kampoeng Sampireun. It is placed at Garut, about five hours from Jakarta. The scenery of Sampireun village is unforgettable. In the middle of the village, there is a man-made lake, which is extremely unbelievable. At the edge of the village, there is a ravine, which is surrounded by mountain range. Sampireun village also has its own history, value and culture of the village.

Hepatitis C

Hepatitis C is a decease caused by virus which attacts liver. The decease, the virus itself, is very contagious, it can be spread from person to another through contact with infected blood, for example Hepatitis C can infect one if he/she got transfusion of blood that has the virus. Also a person can get the virus by sharing needles for drug abuser who has infected blood, from sex partner and pregnant mother to her baby. The virus is very dangerous, once one had the virus it usually does not bring any symptoms at first so the person will feel ok as if he/she doesn’t have any sickness, but in ten to twenty years the virus will accumulated and cause liver cancer or cirrhoses that is a chronic decease of the liver marked by degeneration of cells, inflammation and fibrous thickening of tissue. In this stage it will be hard to be cured or maybe it is too late which lead to deaths. That is why Hepatitis C is known as silent killer. There are several types in Hepatitis C they are Type IA that usually spreads in Asia and Africa, type IB spreads in USA and Europe. Moreover unlike other kinds of Hepatitis such as Hepatitis A and B, there is no vaccine against Hepatitis C. Therefore it is very important to beware of the killing virus and try to avoid it by learning how the virus spreads. This killing virus, however, if identified in early stage can be cured by two kinds of medications, which just launched in the past three years and already proved of healing the decease. The medications are called Pegasys it is an injection kind of medicine and the tablet called Ribavirin which the patient must take all together during the healing process although there are side effects of taking those medications like hair loss, skin problems even depression, Pegasys and Ribavirin are the only medicine which can fight Hepatitis C virus until now.

Indomie still exist from time to time. This is the most popular brand of instant noodle in Indonesia. Everybody in Indonesia like this food. Indomie has various taste which almost everybody like that taste. For instance, chicken curry, special chicken curry, satay, and many more. But we have to think of the danger of consuming instant noodle. 
Firstly, we talk about MSG 
(Monosodium Glutamate). MSG is a food additive, popularly marketed as a "flavour enhancer". If we consuming this additive, we get an extra flavour that we can enjoy the food better. If we consuming over of MSG, maybe we can get a symptom likes headache, rapid heartbeat, chest pain, 
drowsiness, bronchospasm (difficulty breathing), and many others. We know as a human we like a delicious food. But maybe we didn't know the dangerous of food which we had already consumed. Secondly, we talk about the quality of noodle. We know that the competition for instant noodles in Indonesia is very tight, and the government has proclaimed about instant noodle is the alternative food as rice.
Because of the competition of selling the various brands, the company must reduce their price and if the price become reduce, logically the quality of food become decrease too. So it is dangerous for our health and our body. Finally, there is no recommendation to consume noodle frequently. This is not the prohibition to consume noodle, but it could 
be better if we consume the noodle for infrequently.

Bossa nova is one of my favourites genre in music. Commonly, this kind of music is performed in slow tempo and rich harmony. Bossa nova has a brazillian’s, jazz, and latin’s rhytms. Bossa nova songs usually played by several instruments like bass, guitar, piano, drum, and percussion. Percussion give the samba or latin feel. I love to feel the touch of bossa nova. The bossa nova legends are Astrud Gilberto, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Henri Salvador, and many more. In this era, Lisa Ono, the japanese artist has become the bossa nova’s star. She has a jazzy and beautiful voice. Bossa nova has a good relationship with Jazz so bossa nova needs a good improvisation to make the music more lively. Bossa nova gives us a calm, relax, and peace situation. I think everybody will like this kind of music and I can’t stop enjoying it.

Tennis is one kind of sports that is popularly played in western countries such as Europe and America. During the last decade, tennis was also started to be popularly played in Asian countries. Game that is played between 2 people is called single and is called double game for the 4 players. There is some equipment that needs to be satisfied before tennis game is started. AUCKLAND

Auckland is the largest city in New Zealand. It has a population of just under a million people and is located on North Island. This seaport is an essential centre for business and industry. It is also the most dynamic and multicultural city in New Zealand.
The history of the city goes back 650 years when the Maoris settled in the area. European settlement began in 1840 when the British arrived. New Zealand’s first governor, Captain William Hobson, made Auckland the capital. Later, the capital moved to Wellington, because it was more central. Since 1945 the city of Auckland has grown and it now has large modern suburbs.
Furthermore, Auckland is also an interesting place to visit because of its famous sights, such as Mt Eden, one of many large volcanic hills, other places is the beautiful Auckland domain which is famous for its large palm tree and exotic plants. In addition for those who likes to see the Maoris traditional dances can pay a visit to the Auckland Museum.
In the end, Auckland is amazing place; not only because it’s rich of culture but also rich of beautiful scenery.

Wages differential

Wages are payment made to labor monthly, weekly, or sometimes fortnightly for services rendered. Wages that every people get are not the same. There are four main factors that affecting wages Firstly, the demand side affects the difference in wages because, when the demand for the worker is high, then it can increase the wages rate, as the supply cannot increase immediately. The marginal revenue product primarily determines the demand side for labor. It can be defined as the addition to revenue by hiring one extra worker. If the workers are highly productive, then the demand for that worker is high; therefore, it will increase its minimum wages rate. Secondly the supply side affect the wages differential, when the supply is elastic then the wages rate will decrease, in other hand when the supply is inelastic than the wages rate will increase. The supply if labor affected by the educational qualification, the more qualified the greater the reward. Training and skill are also involved in determining wages, the more skilled the higher the wages. Next is innate ability, usually people in cultural activity. The natures of job are also affecting, when the job is risky, they would be paid higher. Trade union is the third factor that affect wages differential. Trade unions affect both demand and supply side. Trade union can influenced supply by increasing or decreasing the minimum working age or retirement age, shorten or longer the working hour, increase or decrease the minimum educational qualification, and used shop policy. It can also influence the demand side by increasing or decreasing sales or labor productivity. Lastly, is the government legislation, government set a minimum wages to ensure that the worker get a decent wages to maintain their standard of living. There are several factors that determined wages both economic and social factors. However, it is very difficult to really pinpoint the main cause of wages differential; they are interrelated to one another.

Drug Abuse In Indonesia

Ten years ago I lost a friend, he died overdosed.He is not just ‘a friend’, but he probably one of my best friends. We grew up together and very close. He was addicted to heroin; he was 18 years old when he died. It’s so sad because he was a smart boy and he had so many dreams. Heroin is one of the kinds of drug that have the highest risk of causing death. There are many kinds of drug, such as barbiturate pills, marijuana, ecstasy, shabu-shabu (crystal methamphetamine), putaww (low grade of heroin) and cocaine.
Indonesia reportedly has over 1.3 million drug abusers out of its population of 210 million people. Most drug abusers are young aged between 15 and 35.Two weeks ago I read about the custom officials at Jakarta’s international airport apprehended an Indonesian girl and her brother with 2.6 kilograms of heroin in their shoes. The siblings in their early 20’s, were passengers of Thai Airways from Bangkok and estimated value of the heroin was some 250,000 dollars. I don’t think they are the big drug dealer, maybe they just some courier. It’s ashamed to have young Indonesian citizen to do such crime.
We often ask why do they use drugs, but I think we cannot find the exact answer. Drug abuser most common come from broken homes or broken hearts, because they felt disappointed to the situation, felt unloved, unsecured. So they try to find ‘something’ that can make them feel happy, loved and secure. But there are some people who used drugs just because of their friends, society, and curiosity. Whatever the reason is they are playing with deaths when they first tried the drugs. Different drugs cause different symptoms and sign to the person using them. For example heroin abuser will have dry mouth, disorientation, poor mental function, signs of injections, infections, shallow breathing. Heroin abuse is associated with serious health condition, including fatal overdose, spontaneous abortion, collapsed veins, and infectious disease, including HIV/AIDS and hepatitis. For cocaine abuse the symptoms are dilated/large pupil, hyper-alertness, sleeplessness, extremely talkative, speak very fast, restless, paranoia (in high dosage). In general drug abusers will abrupt changes in school attendance, quality of work, grade and discipline, Withdrawal of responsibility, general changes in overall attitude, unusual of borrowing money from friends or parents, even stealing from home and schools.
Drug abusers must get treatments as soon as possible, because it’s very dangerous for them and people surround them. There are some foundations or rehabilitation which dealing with this kind of problem. For example yayasan cinta anak bangsa, it was set up in 1999 to combat drug problems among the youth. YCAB introduces drug education to school curriculums, interschool programs for ‘at risk’ youth, as well as drug research and education centers. And there is hospital to give medical treatments and religious related place to help the abuser healed. But the most important thing is the intention of drug abuser to be cured. And the support from the family and friends will help the process of healing faster and easier to them.
If we ask why? How? Will not be an answer. Do we want to end up like my friend who died young? Life is a choice; let’s make better future, better life, and stay healthy without drugs for our sakes.

Living with Homestay Family

Living away from parents and friends is sometimes quite challenging for many students who want to study abroad. Once students move overseas to study, they do not simply study, but they live there. Choosing the most suitable of accommodation is undoubtedly crucial for those who want to study overseas. One type of accommodation that students might bring into consideration is homestay. When students living in a homestay, it means they live with the other family in foreign country. Once they live in other’s family home, they become the part of the family. They have to go on with the family’s rule and adopt their lifestyle. In the homestay, most family will provide meals for students who live in their house. Some of them also do not mind to do the laundry and clean up the student’s room. On the other hand, living in the homestay is not always good. There are a lot of families out there who do not accomplish their responsibility as they supposed to be. For example, when they are not at home or come back late, it would be likely they will not provide dinner for the students. Some families are also made strict rules that must not be violated by the students. Some of the rules sometimes do not make any sense. For example, students are not allowed to have any kind of snack in their room. Piracy can be defined as the robbery of a copyrighted product. It is in the form of duplicate, which was made illegally. There are three common areas of piracy. And they are in the music industry, movies industry, and computer software industry. Firstly, is in the music industry. Producers now are starting to worry about the records sales. For the past ten years, the album sales have been decreasing rapidly. It is now at the stage of awareness. Musicians are starting to worry about their career, since selling record is not a good way to earn a lot of money anymore. Pirates are copying music albums, and sell them at a low price. So, when it compared with the original one, it could win. Secondly, is in the movies industry. It is similar with the music industry. But the different is, actors and actress are not really affected by piracy. The producers are the one that could lose millions of dollars. And lastly, is in the computer software industry. Computer software industry got the biggest loss from piracy. This is because the original software price is too expensive. Even it could cost millions of rupiah. In contrast, the pirated one is only ten thousands rupiah. So it is way cheaper than the original one. In conclusion, the three areas that affected by piracy are the music industry, movies industry, and the computer software industry.

There are several types of iPod; iPod Nano, iPod Shuffle, iPod Video, iPod Mini, iPod Touch, etc. Each of them has different capacity and features. All of them allowed us to upload and hear music. But not all of the types allow us to watch videos and upload photos. The latest type of iPod is the iTouch (iPod Touch). As the name stated, the iPod is touch screen. Besides that, iTouch also have an ability to connect with Wi Fi. By using an iTouch, we can browse in the Internet. And lastly, the latest technology that apple offers, iPhone. It’s the first phone that Apple has made. Its shape and features are similar with iTouch. Money is very important in today’s society. We use money in our every day’s life. Without money, we cannot buy the essential things in our life. Such as food, water, clothes, medicine and many more. Most of us, strive to get a good education, to have a better job in the future. All those efforts are for us to receive better pay for our journey in life. In today’s employment, some society has better pay than others which made them able to afford luxurious things. How about the poor society that has less salary or just enough salary? The standard cost of living is not balanced by the poor society salary. To make it worse, the cost of living has kept rising over time. This makes the society harder to survive in running their lives. The importance of money can bring bad influence in our lives. A legend once said that Valentine was a priest who served during the third century in Rome.
Claudius, the Roman Emperor, felt that single men were better soldiers than those who were marries. So the emperor outlawed marriage for young men who were potential soldiers. Pasteur Valentine reliased the injustice rule made by the emperor, and so he decided to marry those young men to they're loved ones secretly. When Valentine's actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that he be put to death.

According to the legend, Valentine actually sent the first 'valentine' greeting himself while he ws in prison. It was believed that Valentine had fallen in love with a young lady who was the jail's guard's daugther. She often visted him during his imprisonment.

Before Valentine's death, it was alleged that he wrote her a letter, which was signed, 'From your Valentine', which was ritten on the 14Th of Febuary. An expression that is used until today.

Although the truth behind Valentine's legends are murky, the stories certainly emphasize his appeal as a sympathetic, heroic, brave, and, most importantly a truely romantic figure. It's no surprise that by the Middle Ages, Valentine was one of the most popular saints in England and France.

Adversity Quotient: A New Paradigm

In the last few years, many people still dwell on the old-fashioned paradigm that Intelligence Quotient (IQ), Emotional Quotient (EQ), and Spiritual Quotient (SQ) are the only determining factors in someone’s life. Moreover, they also engage in an over-heated debate about which is the most important out of the three. Those who prefer cognitive approaches to life argue that IQ is the most important, since sharp analytical and problem solving abilities are very much needed in life. In fact, the majority of schools and universities still put up a higher value on academic achievements rather than non-academic achievements. On the other hand, many people agree that EQ and SQ are far more essential than IQ. For example, a genius scientist without good morals and spirituality ends up as an atheist or even a mass destroyer by developing and igniting nuclear bombs.
Recent researches by psychologists discover the Adversity Quotient (AQ), a new landmark in the psychological world, which challenges the status quo of the ‘big three’. Adversity Quotient is the capabilities of a human to focus on his purpose in life and overcome any obstacles in the way. In short, AQ represents the strength of someone’s determination. AQ classifies human behaviors into three characteristics of mountain climbers. Firstly, the quitters. They love to try on new things and experiences. However, they will not continue in pursuing their objectives if the environment is unsupportive and harsh. In short, they are weak-willed people and too scatter-brained to focus on one goal. Secondly, the campers. They love to pursue a certain limit of goals and easily satisfied of their achievements. Their biggest downfall is the fact that they love to stay in their ‘comfort zone’ and hesitant to take the risks. Lastly, the climbers. These people are the real survivors. They love to set big and long term goals, take the challenges, and persistent in pursuing their dreams. In addition, they are also able to overcome any obstacles efficiently and maintain to live with high energy and passion because of their clear vision and mission in life.
To conclude, Adversity Quotient is the most determining factor in someone’s life. No matter how genius, patient, or faithful someone is, he will never get the success that he deeply wants to achieve unless he has the determination and perseverance to climb the mountain of success.

No Henry, No Worry

After Arsenal were left by their legendary player such as Thiery Henry, I was not sure how this team would manage their playing in football. Because from what I have observed from the game in last season was not quite good. Especially for the youngsters, all I can see was the youngsters playing for Henry, not playing with him. I keep asking, what would Arsenal become without Thiery Henry. I was hoping That Arsenal would be better than last season even without Henry, but I didn't know how realistic it was until i saw them playing.

I was just mesmerised watching them playing, I was shocked that Arsenal are unbeaten until today. I was very happy and thrilled by the way they played, My hands were shaking everytime I see them play. Six game has gone, and now they sit in the top of the Premier league with the game in hand. They played football as good as ever and surprisingly score from outside the box. With fabregas as their leader on the field nothing can stop them. Fabregas and his other team mates brought a beautiful football and keep the team together and made a different confidence they make last year.

"Henry was a great footballer, but it was not easy to play alongside him" said the spaniard.

"We were a bit inhibited by him- dependant on what he wanted to do or what he demands. But now is different".

"Everyone was saying that this year without Henry we would be nowhere and that has motivated everyone".

Another maestro of the game Arsene Wenger was the key to Arsenal success. Everyone was saying that selling Henry was a wrong decision to make, But they have proved them wrong once again by giving his players a strong message and faith to the rest of the players at the team. I was just saying that from this statement we can see that without Henry the team is still as strong as they were, or hopefully better. We can learn so many thing from Arsenal, and I hope we have'nt seen the best of it yet, I hope this will keep continuing until the end of the season. They are not a team that uses famous players, star players, or even a kind of team that bribes the referee. They are just a team with a profesional and mature players with football skills and with a mentality of a champions.

United States of America is one of the most chosen destination for tourists since they have many attractions to offer from various different states and also the macro environment of the country itself. National Cherry Blossom Festival is one of the world’s famous annual festivals in Washington DC; this festival is a sign of spring and has a symbol behind it which makes this festival worth attending and nominated as one of world’s best festival.
Washington’s world famous annual National Cherry Blossoms Festival started in March 27, 1912 when Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo donated 3000 Japanese cherry trees or Sakura in Japanese as a gift to mature the growing friendship between United States and Japan. This festival is a Washington DC’s signature springtime event and as a representation of continuing friendship between the citizens of Japan and the United States. (National Cherry Blossom Festival 2007) This annual festival attract both residents and visitors for the reason that the festival features over 150 daily cultural performances by local, national and international entertainers and most of the festival events are free of charge.
In an highly individualism country like United States, big festivals can be considered as an effective tool to gather people together, working hand in hand just like the way Japanese do. All in all, the Americans sure can learn something from the Japanese from this festival. Not only this festivals will gather tourists from many different places together, but also the local residents a feeling togetherness for the sake of this annual festival.
In conclusion, National Cherry Blossom Festival is an important contributor to the wellbeing and way of life of communities in Washington DC. However, there are some points which need to be improved in order to make this annual festival attract more tourists such as the country political stability and more publication since it is an annual event, which means there is plenty of extra time for further in depth planning, organising and controlling.

American's Politic Attitude

The strangeness of American’s politic attitude to handle international problems has appeared and seen from long time ago. We could see how ‘heroic’ was America to interfere the internal conflict in Mozambique, Somalia. Instead of solving the problem, they made the problem more and more complicated. On the other hand, when many UN committees wanted to ban Israel for invading Palestine, America decided not to interfere the international crime by using veto rights.

Work-yourself-Out

Too lazy to exercise once or twice is tolerable, but be careful, if
you stay unmotivated everyday, you will totally forget exercise
routine. Look around you, there are various fitness center or gym
everywhere since being healthy is the lifestyle that is "hot" in this
day and age, by all means exercise is an important thing in your daily
or weekly schedule. Generally, exercising three times a week is good
for you as long as you maintain to do it every week without excuses,
but what you should do when you are simply weary? First, keep in mind
that you have a target, either to lose weight or to maintain your
fitness level. Moreover, mindset is important, the way you see things,
the way you think, is all that matters. Keep in mind, your body is
your own temple, thus you should take care you own temple. Second, get
yourself a "gym buddy" it could be you colleagues, and ask them to
join you. If you prefer not to have a "gym buddy", then get yourself a
personal trainer (PT), not only you will have a better training
schedule and extra reason to go to the gym because of the money you
spent to hire a PT, but also normally people attain their fitness
target faster with PT. Next, do not forget to take your beloved MP3
players such as iPod when you are exercising, be your own DJ and set
an energetic music to escort you jogging and let the sound of music
gets the best of you! Hence, remember that exercise is important,
stay motivated and remember your target, drink plenty of water, get
yourself a gym buddy or PT, turn on your iPod and start your work out!

Today European music industry has become a big influence to people around the world, and what am I going to specifically recommend you is British music. Today the millions copy of british music cd’s has successly sold in Europe and other millions across Asia, America and Australia. These succesful achievement has shown that British music industry could compete equally against other music industries around the world. There are many artist that have been successful in the industry such as Oasis, Coldplay, Travis, Radiohead, Mika, Paulo Nutini, The kooks and many more. I am quite sure that some of you have heard about them, but what I personally recommend to you is Arctic Monkeys. Arctic Monkeys is a Rock alternative Band that instumented by guitar, bass and drum. Their music come with strong but gentle tone and rythm with alternative vocal and thick british accent. With it I was touched and out of a sudden I became a fan. To conclude, as their fans I recommend all of you to hear these artist that I have stated. In a free time I hope you could hear their music especially Arctic Monkeys, you should hear it.

Nokia has become the dominating brand of cell phone in Indonesia, followed by Sony Ericsson and Motorola. The reasons Nokia dominated the market lies on its superiority in programs and models. First of all, Nokia offers a lot of variety of programs to use from. It has from simple programs that people can use everyday such as calendar and alarm, to the most complicated program that a cell phone can offer by using the newest technology. Through all of its variety programs, Nokia is able to allow their users to choose which ever programs they need for their lifestyle; such as music phone, communicator, and camera phone. Secondly, Nokia’s phones are also superior in its models, more specifically in its styles. Most people in Indonesia, especially teenagers, see cell phone as part of their fashions. Even some believe that cell phone, just like cars, shows the social class of the user. Therefore, since Nokia has design a more stylish cell phone than all of its competitors, most people chooses Nokia on top of the other brands.
As a conclusion, because of its user friendly programs with a stylish design, Nokia has become the dominating brand of cell phone in Indonesia.

Benchwarmers

For some athlete, it's great to be a benchwarmers. In soccer, for example, a few of the team's benchwarmers enjoyed watching their teamates playing a competitive football, while he sit for the whole 90 minutes match, possibly, if they didn't got the chance to play from the coach. These kind of players, have all the best days of earning a blind income. The weekly salary for them, if they're an important or a star player, are based around $70,000. And the role-playing of them,were just sit and play in a few minutes, 1 time in a week, and then get the $70,000. How a waste of time was that! In addition, let us take a look at an example. The all time well-known player, Ronaldo, had a really wasted time when he was playing for Internazionale Milan, since he had a two-year injury blow. But it seems that he had no intention of playing anymore, for the reserves team, after his recovery proccess. The il phenomenon, then jumped to Real Madrid a few weeks after the world cup 2006. They feel that they can't be a well-known and great player, if they were just sitting idle. People had always admired The Great Sphinx for it’s truly remarkable. The Sphinx had represented the essence of the Egyptians for over thousands of years. It has a body of a lion and a head of either an Egyptian pharaoh or a God. The Sphinx is believed to symbolize strength and wisdom. The Sphinx has a length of 150 feet (45m) and is 14 feet (4m) wide. It is definitely a great work of art and I wish someday I would be able to see it with my own eyes or maybe even sit on the lion’s back.

The Cause of War

The blood's rushing, the pressure's too high, you can't stand it anymore and then you explode! Anger causes everything in your life, when everything goes wrong you'll be mad and your life started to become misserable and you just can complain about it. From the moment we can interact with other people, we struggle with anger, stress, and frustration. But, sometimes we forget that we've hurt someone when we're angry and that's the beginning of everything. What do you think causes war? It's anger. Right? All of the complains and anger you throw on everybody else didn't make the others like you, they even hate us for that. Anger is a natural emotion but we have to control anger before anger control us, you just have to learn to express your anger in the right way. The better way is to find out what triggers your anger and then solve the problem which keeping you angry from time to time, after that you can try to relax and breathe deeply until you calm down.

Study abroad has become a trend among people. They usually recommended their children to study abroad after graduated from high school. In fact, only upper mid-level people that can afford to send their children to study abroad. Furthermore, The countries that mostly chosen for study abroad are China, Australia, USA, Singapore, etc. In Indonesia, graduates from overseas country will be easier to be accepted in a company than graduates from local university. Married for life?

In this modern era where people are more logical and practical, the idea of being married to one person for life has become a controversial topic to everyone. But if we may put aside all idealistic and religious or even moral considerations for a while, it is still a good arrangement to stay married to one partner for life. Firstly, couples should grow old together and take care of each other. This will results in the understanding of each other that long married couples would develop into a firm friendship which would ideally life long. In addition, seeing that they are of opposite sexes, they will complement each other. Another consideration is it is also cheaper to live with one person for life, especially for men. In fact, how many men have been ruined by divorce settlements? As a conclusion, divorcing and marrying again is like running two families and will lead to a lot of expenses, which few can afford and these are just few of other good and strong reasons why couples should be married for life.

in specific place only. 
For example, in cafe, coffee shop, bars, lounge, campus, and many more.
In fact, many people in Jakarta need this connection for
business, browsing, and many more. Wi-Fi connection is

In my humble opinion (IMHO), many teenager use Wi-Fi for gaming, and chatting.

How to make an 'eggs in a basket’ ?

First of all we will need the ingredient, and they are 1 piece of bread, 1 egg, and oil, about the oil we will need it according to our pan the bigger pan is the more oil we need it so I suggest you to use a small pan but make sure it is still big enough so you can scoop up the oil. The first thing you need to do is pour the oil in to the pan but be careful make sure that the oil is slightly higher, slightly lower or the same height with the thickness of the bread, don’t forget to light the fire to heat it. Second we leave the oil to boil while we waiting, we prepare the bread and the egg. To prepare the egg we just need to crack it open and place it content in to a bowl and to prepare the bread we need a spoon press the canter of the bread with the spoon till it make a shape like a saucer enough make sure you didn’t make a hole at the canter. And third after everything is done , what I mean is the oil is boil and the bread and the egg were prepared, put the bread in the pan, make sure the hollow canter is facing up then put the egg on top of the bread right in the bread’s bowl like shape. Finale we reach the last point take the oil from around the bread and pour it on top of the egg repeat this action till all the top of the egg turn white then turn it up side down and wait till it done then serve it and eat it while it still hot. And that is how to make a 'eggs in a basket’

Music is the universal language that unifies all people in the world. First of all, people can understand the beauty of music regardless of their race and nationality. For example, European or American tourists in Bali can really enjoy the Balinese atmosphere because of the Balinese traditional gamelan music. Secondly, music also enables the mixing between Western and Asian culture, creating a wonderful harmony together. A prime example is Bob James’ album, “Angels of Shanghai” where he cooperated with a Chinese Orchestra to produce unique ethnic-jazz fusion. Thirdly, music contributes a lot to the peace of humanity. Popular songs such as “Heal The World” and “Ebony and Ivory” have raised people’s concern about the importance of interracial unity. Lastly, the rapid development of technology enables people from different cultural backgrounds to share music easily by using the internet.This is the proof that humans perceive music as a collective matter that belongs to everyone regardless of their race and culture. As a conclusion, music is definitely an essential language to maintain harmony in our beloved mother earth.

Imbalance Social in Jakarta

Many Indonesian people live in poverty condition, but not a bit of us also live in glamour lifestyle.
Everyday we can see a lot of homeless people spread around the outskirts of city. They are willing to do anything so they can survive in this city. They become singing beggars, vendors, bus driver, or maybe some of them become robbers. Sometime they feel hungry and thirsty but they can’t buy anything because they out of money. On the other hand, some of rich people in this city live extravagantly. They could spend millions money just for the unimportant thing, like shopping brand stuff, one night party, or maybe only for one set menu in expensive restaurant. Some of rich people like to show off their capital and try to make other people envy and this condition can bring to social jealousy.
In conclusion, rich people should be more generous and give some of their money to the poor people so the social economic condition in Jakarta not seems unbalance significantly.

Developed and Developing countries

There are two types of countries. Developed and developing countries. Each has its own characteristics

A developed country has a high GNP per capita, as they have educated population. Their inflation rate is well controlled. As a result, they have a mild inflation that can attract investment, and create job opportunity, which will lead to low unemployment rate. Which will then resulted to a surplus in current account as well as reserves. Developed countries mainly have a secondary or tertiary sector in their economic structures. They also have a low birth rate because, they are too busy with their career, and high live expectancy rate because of high technology in medical system and low number of people per doctor. They also have a income equities, which forem a diamond shape of incoe distribution chart.

Where as, in developing countries, the GNP per capita is very low. Because most of their economic structures are in primary sector, due to their resident are not well educated. Developing countries also have a high and fluctuating inflation rate, which causes investor refuse to invest in the country. This will lead to a high unemployment rate and will lead to a deficit n current account as well as reserves. They usually have a high birth rate because they are not well educated. They also have a low life expectancy because they have a low technology in medical system as well as less educated people, so there are fewer doctors. developing countries has inequalities in income, therefore they formed a piramid shaper of income distribution chart.

Tsunami is a giant wave with height 5 until 10 meters and may be higher.
It’s caused by sudden earthquake that moves earth’s plates and make ocean disturbance.
The water moves towards the coast and will make dangerous disaster.
It will cause lost of property an loss of human life.
Economics of the place will affected and spread of the disease. Japan is the country in the world that often strike by the tsunami. But they already find a way to prevent them. Last tsunami attack comes to our very own country Indonesia especially in Aceh.
First it caused by the huge earthquake and then followed by tsunami. Indonesia citizen wasn’t aware of it until the disaster comes. Many loss of property and human life.
This shows us that tsunami may bring dangerous effect to our country even our province.

Soccer League

Soccer league is a competition of a soccer teams. They compete each other against different teams, they compete in a league that consists of 20 teams. Each time they won, they will get 3 points, 1 points if draw, yet a 0 point if they lost. Each country divided the league into 3 division, the first division, second divison, and third division, but each of them have their own league's name. There are many different leagues in different country, we called the England league by Premiere League, while the Italian league is called Serie A, and many more. There also a champions league, it consists of 4 team from each european country, and the teams are at the top 4 of their league, they are divided into 8 groups consists of 4 teams. To sum up, each country have their own league, and they can compete against other teams in champions league.

Water

Water is one of the most important natural sources in the world and also one of the biggest earth disasters. In our daily life, water is an essential substance. We use water for drinking, taking a bath, cooking and much more. However water is used more than that, water can also be dangerous in our life; water can also serve as a natural beauty of the earth. The natural beauty that we have now, mostly originates from water. Waterfalls, oceans, lakes, rivers and many more are some of the example of earths’ magnificence. Aquatic animals needs water to live, so water is also needed for our sources of food, earth needs water to grow trees and plants and animals needs water to re-hydrate themselves. Further use of water than the usefulness and the beauty of water, water can also destroy our environment in disaster, such as, tsunami, flooding or rainstorm and many more. Water is an essential source in our life; however it can also be the cause of catastrophe in our life too.

Cell phone is a mobile communication device that has many functions. The main function is to communicate with each others that far away from us. We can communicate with each other wherever we are. For example, if we need to buy something from some place, we won't need to go to that place. We just need to call and order something like food or anything else. As technology is getting higher day by day, we can use cell phone to see each other which is called video call. We can see someone we want to see even though he/she is thousand or even million miles away. The new technology called GPS is really helpful. We could know where we are, but we cannot depend on that thing. The other function is to send messages. With text message, people can easily communicate each other instead of via voice communication which is more costly. Not only communication but also other services such as gaming or music media that cell phone offer. As a conclusion, there are many function of using cell phones.

Air pollution in Indonesia

Indonesia is the fourth most populous country in the world.
During the 1980s and 1990s, Indonesia experienced significant environmental degradation due to the increasing population.

Air pollution is Indonesia's most serious environmental problem.
Motor vehicles are one of the main sources of air pollution in Indonesia especially in Jakarta.
Forest fires also contribute to air pollution in Indonesia. These fires were resulted from illegal logging of Indonesia's rain forests. Nearly 10 million hectares were burned, producing a haze that impacted the neighboring countries like Singapore and Malaysia.
Other sources of pollution are Indonesia’s industrial sector. They release dangerous chemicals into the atmosphere.

To control the air pollution in Indonesia, The Blue Sky Program was initiated by the government to improve air quality in Indonesia's five largest cities: Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Surabaya, and Medan.
