Inflation

Inflation is inordinate sustained increase in the general price level. The increase in general price level can be cause by many factors the main factors are demand pull inflation, cost push inflation, profit push inflation and government intervention. Demand pull inflation can cause inflation because when the consumer income increase, the purchasing power will also increase then this will lead to an increase in demand and when the supply is inelastic then it need time to catch the demand which will lead to an increase in price. The next factor that affects inflation is cost push inflation. This is when the price of raw material or labor cost is increasing, then the production cost will also increase, which will further lead to an increase in the final product price. The profit push inflation is cause by the monopolist or. The decrease their production in order to create a shortage, then this will lead to a decrease in the supply which will cause inflation. Then the last factor is government intervention. Some of the example of government intervention that can cause inflation is when there are excessive government spending, increasing in the indirect taxes, increasing the direct taxes which will lead to an increase in the disposable income then will further lead to an increase in the demand and will cause inflation.

Flood in Jakarta

The flood caused many problems for the people in Jakarta, especially people who live alongside the river which have to surrender their houses to the massive flood. It caused an electricity failure all over Jakarta, roads are cracked everywhere, vehicles are broken and it also caused me several problems. At those times when the water level is still high, I cannot go back from campus as all the road to my campus is block by the flood. I have been jailed inside the campus for several hours before my parents can pick me up. It were boring hours during the flood. That is not enough, my house even being flooded for 2 days. All of my things are broken because of the flood. After the flood has ended, there was rubbish and trash everywhere in huge amount. There are uncountable financial losses from both the government and private companies. Car Insurances Company was the greatest victim of this flood because they have to pay the repairing cost of many cars which have been destroyed by the flood. One company I know has to pay 2 trillion rupiahs to the workshop in which the cars are being repaired. Although there are lots of victims in this catastrophe, there are still people that are getting profit from this flood thing. Trash collector and workshop owner’s are few of many examples.

Accounting Changes Caused By Technology

Nowadays, technology seems to be an important factor in our life. It keeps developing rapidly everyday even in every single second of our life. In accounting works are being made using computer not manually anymore. This change is caused by technology; especially when computer was found and accounting software are created.. In those early days where there are no technology which supports accounting, accounting jobs were made by human with their skill and power which need more time and errors are often made. When accounting can be done by computers, it is a very positive change because when we are using computer to get the work done, errors such as miscalculation seldom occurs, but this doesn’t mean that there are no error. Some error such as input error can occur. The example of software that supports accounting is Microsoft Excel. In Microsoft Excel, the spreadsheet which includes mathematics formulas is making accounting jobs easier to deal with. Until now, this development of computers software to support accounting work is still growing. Later on, we expect more sophisticated accounting software will be launched soon.

Foods on the Health perspective

Nowadays, foods around Indonesia are becoming very cheap and attractive especially in Jakarta. The food is becoming so cheap since the cost to produce it is minimize by using some harmful materials as the ingredients such as Borax and Formalin which is a preservative. These two items are so cheap compared to the other preservatives that are safer to consume. By that meaning, the price is so cheap compared to other food of the same kind produce by others. The effect of consuming these cheap foods with harmful substances in it is that you are most certainly leads to cancer which are very dangerous that already takes a lot of lives of people who is infected by it. It’s mostly recommended that you eat healthy food. Although it is more expensive, but it is more guaranteed to ensure the quality of it.

The End for Motorola?

It was said that Motorola, which used to be the number one cellphone manufacturer, will sell their cell phone division. Just like Siemens which was purchased by BenQ, will Motorola's mobile phone reign have the same fate as Siemens? It seems that what makes them to take this path is the fact that they have loss around five hundred and fifty three million dollars in last year sales. They went to the second place of cellphone manufacturer in 2006, but to make it worse, they drop to the third spot in the market in 2007. The second spot was taken by Samsung which unlike Motorola, shows a better improvement in last year sales. This seems to be the cause of Motorola to have such a big loss in their sales, despite their success in RAZR models this past few years. Thus, Motorola did not confirm that they will take the same path as Siemens, but it was known that they are looking for a buyer. It seems they are at the point where it is all or nothing. The other options for Motorola is to build a stand alone company for their cellphone division. But, it is their decision, as we can only sit and wait. Thus it will be a great changes or it will be the last time we see Motorola take part in the cellphone's market competition?

Floods in Jakarta

This have been the third or forth times that Jakarta is covered in floods. This should have been the warning call for the government to take serious act on this issue. Floods give the people and the country itself quite a disadvantages and disaster. Hundreds houses was damaged, sickness, and thousands can neither go home or come at that time. Looking as it develops, the progress for the flood prevention is still dissapointing and can hardly noticeable. People keeps wondering of what does government actually do to deal with this. Instead of giving people help and food, they should think about how to stop this from happening regularly. There have been quite a few events like this happening from the past years, and that should be enough for the government to take notice of this instead of doing nothing and only inform people what they will do. As we all know that a talk is not the same as an act, where act is always bigger than words. But, today we can only hope that this newest event can one more time be the call they needed to start taking action.

Woman's Best Friend

Just like any other woman in this planet, diamond is considered as something very precious as diamond is in the category of a precious stone. The shine that it reflects from every side seems to blinded everyone to race to get them. Perhaps because I live in a country without a huge diamond mines I don’t have to experience such brutality like the children in Africa who are taught of violence since they were at young age. The movie “Blood Diamond” shows the brutality happens in African diamond mine; the view of violence is everywhere. Ed Zwick’s movies always been a blast, and this time, he did it again. The set in Sierra Leone during the 1990’s civil war was made perfectly and which made this movie very captivating and it feels like I am involved in the real scene. My favorite character was actually Jennifer Connelly, because she was so eager to write and report about what is going on in the real world whereas people in the other side of the country might not really know what is going on behind their diamond jewelries. In terms of movie criteria, “Blood Diamond” is a movie that is packed with drama, action and adventure, thus, for the audience this is a very entertaining and educative movie. From this movie I learn of how people in Africa really suffers a lot from poverty until they are willing to risk anything to race for the price, just like how Vandy just want to live a simple life with his family. Again and again, I would say that this movie is a must see movie because of the actors, cinematography, the story itself and most of all is the main theme of the movie. Thus, as a woman who takes diamond as my best friend, perhaps now I would think twice and think that my diamond is more than just a precious stone.
