The Great Sphinx of Giza

People had always admired The Great Sphinx for it’s truly remarkable. The Sphinx had represented the essence of the Egyptians for over thousands of years. It has a body of a lion and a head of either an Egyptian pharaoh or a God. The Sphinx is believed to symbolize strength and wisdom. The Sphinx has a length of 150 feet (45m) and is 14 feet (4m) wide. Until now, nobody really knows the builder of this exclusive figurine, but the most current and popular theory of the builder is held by the 4th Dynasty King, Khafre (2558-2532 BCE). Between the paws of The Sphinx sits a stela which is usually mentioned as the ‘Dream Stela’. Did you know that The Sphinx is originally believed to be painted? It was alleged to be quite colorful but now it has become battered and ware out. The Great Sphinx is believed to be the most immense stone sculpture ever made by man. It is definitely a great work of art and I wish someday I would be able to see it with my own eyes or maybe even sit on the lion’s back.
